4x4 team shines at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The men's 4x400-meter relay team turned in a third-place performance to lead the Simpson track & field team at the Iowa Invitational on Friday.

The team of Ben Coy, Brandon Christensen, Brice Sheeder and Brad Vogel turned in a season-best time of 3:26.91, finishing behind two teams from Iowa.

Coy added a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters, running the race in 51.18, Simpson's fastest of the season.

Competing for the first time in his career, sophomore Joe Farrand took fifth in the 3,000 meters (9:05.20). Logan Klein added a fifth-place effort in the triple jump (36-8 1/2)

Vogel took eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.17) and Josh Diehm placed eighth in the high jump (6-4).

Next up for the Storm is the Iowa Conference Championships, Feb. 24-25 in Mt. Vernon.
