Simpson places 24 on spring academic all-conference team
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson placed 24 student-athletes competing in spring sports on the 2011-12 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
The women's track and field team led the way with 11 honorees, followed by men's track and field (6), softball (6) and baseball (1).
Among the list of academic all-conference performers were first team all-conference softball player Carissa Coopman, second team all-conference softball player Veronica Roshek and men's track and field 10,000-meter run champion, Ryan Edwardson.
