Neumann's goal gives men's soccer 1-0 win at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Tyler Neumann's goal early in the first half held up for the remaining 72 minutes as the Simpson men's soccer team beat Illinois Wesleyan, 1-0 on Saturday.

The Storm (2-0) posted a second-straight, 1-nil win and the second in which Neumann provided the game winner. The win avenges last year's 1-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan in Indianola, the Storm's first loss of the year.

Neumann scored in the 18th minute off a rebound, proving the difference between the evenly matched teams. Only one shot separated the two squads, as Illinois Wesleyan outshot Simpson 12-11.

Erick Eklin made four saves in the final 45 minutes for the Titans (1-1-1) while Luke Aronow collected career shutout No. 10.

Simpson closes the weekend at Millikin on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
