ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Tyler Neumann headed in the lone goal and the Simpson men's soccer team shut out Bethel 1-0 in Friday's season opener.
Chances were few and far between for the Storm (1-0), who were outshot 9-5 on the afternoon. But Neumann's goal – off an assist by Josh Dicken – broke the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute and the defense kept the sheet clean the rest of the way.
Luke Aronow went the distance between the posts, making four saves in his ninth career shutout.
The Storm are off until Saturday, Sept. 7 when they go to Bloomington, Ill. to take on Illinois Wesleyan.
