Gaffney, White named Student-Athletes of the Month
Golfer Jennifer Gaffney and soccer player Mitchell White out-shined their peers in the month of September on the way to earning Simpson Student-Athlete of the Month honors.

Gaffney, a senior from Waukee, Iowa, earned IIAC Golfer of the Week
honors for the week ending Sept. 22 after winning the Simpson Fall
Invitational on Sept. 16 and tying for second at the Luther
Invitational on Sept. 20-21. She sat in third place after the first
two rounds of the IIAC Championship and went on to take seventh in
early October. She owned a team-low 82.3 stroke average at month's
end and led Simpson to two tournament victories during the month.
She also won the award in September 2012.
Mitchell White, soccer
White, a junior forward from Decorah, Iowa, scored eight goals and
had one assist in nine games while leading Simpson to a 7-0-2
start, the longest unbeaten streak to start a season in school
history. He earned IIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the
week ending Sept. 22 after scoring four goals with one assist in
two games. In one of those games - a 5-1 win over Grinnell - White
registered the second hat trick of his career, becoming just the
sixth player in school history to record multiple hat tricks in a
career. He increased his career goal total to 28, the sixth most in
school history.
