Simpson men earn second place finish at home event

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson men's golf team grabbed second place as a team, while the women checked in at seventh at the annual Simpson Fall Invite at Indianola Country Club, Wednesday.

A pair of top five finishes on the men's side vaulted the team to second overall, as the team vastly improved on their seventh place finish a year ago. Blake Perrin was the low man for the Storm, carding a 74, good for a tie for third. It was the career-best round for the freshman in his young career. Isaac Roe ended up in a six-way tie for fifth, shooting a season-best 76.

Jack Wahman, who led the Storm in its last two events, was right behind with a 77 to place in a tie for 11th. Nick Campbell continued the consistent play for the Storm, firing a 78. Garin Grinstead led Simpson's B team by also recording a 78.

On the women's side, Madeline Streicher led the squad once again, shooting a 90 to come in a tie for 22nd. Streicher has been the top women's golfer for the Storm in all but one event this year. Madison Wardlow, the other Storm golfer to lead the team at an event this year, came in just one shot back of Streicher, shooting a 91 to tie for 27th.

The women travel to Lincoln, Neb. for the two-day Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational, starting Saturday. The men are off until Oct. 1, when they complete their fall season at the Central Fall Classic in Iowa City, Iowa.
