
Hangartner, Worth selected to D3football.com All-Region 5 Team
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Sophomore CJ Hangartner and senior Reed Worth were both named to the D3football.com All-Region 5 Team on Wednesday.
Hangartner was selected to the second team as a linebacker, while Worth was voted to the third team at wide receiver. They were both recognized as first team all-conference performers in November.
This is the first time since 2019 Simpson has had a player earn all-region status, as well as just the third time since 2008 that multiple players received the honor. The Storm completed the season with a 3-7 record under first-year head coach Reed Hoskins.
CJ Hangartner, Second Team
- Sophomore linebacker from Tucson, Ariz.
- Registered 60 total tackles, including 40 solo stops and 16 tackles for loss
- Tallied seven total sacks for a loss of 44 yards
- Forced two fumbles, blocked one field goal attempt, and had one pass breakup and four quarterback hurries
- Earned A-R-C Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 2 after recording 10 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry against Buena Vista
Reed Worth, Third Team
- Senior wide receiver from Monroe, Iowa
- Caught 77 passes for 1,160 yards (1st in A-R-C) and 15 touchdowns (3rd in A-R-C) in his final season
- Registered triple-digit receiving yards in all but two games, averaging 15.1 yards per catch
- Recorded multiple touchdowns in six contests, including a season-high three at Buena Vista
- Tied the program record for longest reception in team history with a 94-yard touchdown catch against Buena Vista
- Became the program's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns (35) and yards (3,265)
- Finished the year ranked top 8 in the country in receiving touchdowns, yards and yards per game
