Little named A-R-C Defensive Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Mason Little has been named the American Rivers Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Simpson football team's 56-14 win at Luther.

Little registered five tackles, including two for a loss of nine yards. He also logged his second sack of the year and broke up four passes, helping contain Luther to just 53 yards through the air.

Simpson's defense was dominant as a whole throughout the game, limiting the Norse to negative nine yards in the first half and 40 through the first three quarters. The Storm forced a turnover in each half as Nathaniel Bishop came away with a 14-yard interception late in the second quarter and CJ Hangartner recorded a sack and a forced fumble that was recovered by Joey Goins and eventually led to Simpson's eighth touchdown of the afternoon midway through the third frame.

Offensively, Simpson racked up over 560 yards of offense including a season-high 255 on the ground. Reed Worth, Cameron Jones and Nyle Pascasio were all on the receiving ends of touchdown passes from J Jensen III, while Desmond Alexander, Briley Hayes and Jerad Fischer all added rushing scores.

Simpson will look to pick up its fourth win of the season this Saturday at home against Dubuque. The Spartans are currently 3-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
