LoVan reaches podium in pole vault

PELLA, Iowa -- Audrey LoVan took home all-conference honors in the pole vault to lead the Simpson women's track and field team on day one of the 2018 Iowa Conference Indoor Championship on Friday.

LoVan tied for third, clearing 10-feet for her first all-conference honor in the event. She becomes Simpson's first all-conference performer in the indoor pole vault since 2009.

The Storm took fifth in a pair of relays. The 4x200-meter relay team of Elizabeth Burgus, Mackenzie James, Katie Clarke and Katelyn Mangold finished in 1:50.63 and the distance medley relay team of Emily Buchheit, Jaycie Owens, Mary Wood and Courtney Neuendorf finished in 13:09.39.

Sarah Sandage ran a personal-best in the 60 hurdles, finishing in 10.28 to place 14th. James recorded a personal-best of her own in the 60, crossing the line in 8.29 to place 15th. Burgus followed her in 16th (8.30).

The IIAC Championships conclude from Kuyper Fieldhouse on Saturday.
