Wrestlers travel to Decorah for IIAC Duals on Saturday

The Simpson wrestling team will take part in the Decorah section of the Iowa Conference Duals on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Regents Center. The Storm will face No. 13 Coe, Nebraska Wesleyan, Luther and Loras beginning with the Coe dual at 8 a.m. All duals will be streamed live on Luther.edu.

STORM STORYLINES
1 -- The Storm will square off against an IIAC opponent for just the second time this season when they face Coe in the first of four duals. Simpson's lone conference dual was a 41-4 loss to top-ranked Wartburg at Cowles Fieldhouse on Nov. 16.

2 -- Colby Vlieger is enjoying the best season of his career. The senior 285-pounder from Indianola is currently 17-7 on the season and is riding a six-match winning streak into Saturday's duals. He won the Central Invitational on Jan. 7, going 4-0 with a pair of pins to win his first collegiate title. 

3 -- Senior 165-pounder Jake Mize has a chance to join teammate and classmate Colby Vlieger in the 60-win club if he wrestles in -- and wins -- in all four duals this weekend. Mize is 56-55 during his career and is 8-8 this season. Vlieger is the Storm's active career wins leader at 62-71.

4 -- Simpson is out to snap a streak of eight consecutive winless trips to the IIAC Duals. The Storm's last win came against Dubuque in 2007.
