Clark, Scott help wrestlers to 2-1 mark in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jason Clark and DeVaughn Scott posted three wins apiece and the Simpson wrestling team went 2-1 Saturday at the Gator "Boots" Duals hosted by Luther.
The Storm (3-4) beat Waynesburg 22-18 to start the day, lost to Olivet 31-17 then closed the day with a 26-21 win over Huntingdon.
Clark had a perfect day at 157, posting a major decision over Waynesburg's Matthew Claxton, edging Olivet's Kevin Papak 2-0 and pinning Huntingdon's Quintez Pearson in 2 minutes. Scott enjoyed similar results, getting a 10-5 decision over Waynesburg's Adam Rigney, pinning Olivet's Kyle Carter in 1:27 and majoring Hutningdon's Austin Threatt 17-3.
RJ Brown also had a big day at 174, going 2-0 with a pair of decisions. Colby Vlieger went 2-1 at 285, suffering his only loss to ninth-ranked Jake Evans of Waynesburg, 9-6. Noah Robinson went 1-2 at 184 pounds, getting a pin against Huntingdon. He lost a 6-4, sudden victory match to Waynesburg's Ryan Shank, who entered the day 18-2 on the year.
