LINCOLN, Neb. — Addie Wetzel came off the bench to score 23 points, Nebraska Wesleyan made 14 3-pointers and Prairie Wolves beat the Simpson women's basketball team 95-71 on Saturday.
The Prairie Wolves (11-10, 5-8 Iowa Conference) never trailed, building a 25-point lead in the first half by going 8-for-14 from downtown and shooting almost 60 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
Wetzel, Kate Schulte and Mikenzie Delgado made three 3-pointers apiece for Nebraska Wesleyan, which enjoyed its highest scoring game of the season.
Noreen Morrow scored 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting to lead the Storm (8-14, 5-8). Maddie Simmons added 13 points and Ellen Gallagher had seven and nine rebounds.
Simmons converted a layup to tie the score 11-11 early in the first quarter before Nebraska Wesleyan mounted a 15-1 run to close the quarter. Wetzel made a pair of jumpers to close the quarter for a 29-14 lead. Simpson couldn't pull within single digits the rest of the way.
