Morrow goes for 22 and 19 in loss to La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Noreen Morrow scored 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds but the Simpson women's basketball team couldn't hold on to a 12-point lead, losing to Wis.-La Crosse 68-58 in the Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic. 

Britney Boland had six points and seven rebounds for the Storm (1-2), who built a 32-20 lead late in the first half thanks to a 23-3 run. Morrow scored 10 points during the run, including six from the charity stripe. She went 10-for-11 from the free throw line for the game.

Delaney Schoenenberger came off the bench to score a game-high 24 points for the Eagles (3-2), going 6-for-8 from 3-point range. Elise DeNoyer had 13 points and 10 rebounds and MaKenzie Miller added 12 points.

Simpson took a 54-44 lead on an Ellen Gallagher jumper with 23 seconds left in the third quarter before La Crosse closed the game on a 24-4 run. Simpson went just 1-for-13 from the field in the fourth quarter.

For the second time in eight days Simpson will face Wis.-Whitewater when the Storm take on the Warhawks at 3 p.m. Sunday in La Crosse.
