Oviatt earns Pitcher of the Week honors

INDIANOLA, Iowa – After a week in which she went 2-1 on the mound and helped Simpson close the 2010 Rebel Spring Games on a three-game winning streak, Storm pitcher Whitney Oviatt collected Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference office announced.

A senior from Carnation, Wash., Oviatt boasted a 1.50 ERA during the week while notching wins against St. Norbert and Wisconsin-River Falls March 17. Against St. Norbert she allowed three hits and struck out five while allowing three hits and striking out nine in a complete-game effort against River Falls. She allowed only one run during the two games.

Oviatt and the Storm (9-6) open their home schedule Sunday, March 28 with a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Eau Claire, with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. at Simpson Softball Complex.
