Simpson ranked No. 22 in NFCA Top 25
INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson softball team came in at No. 22 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Poll and No. 2 in the Midwest Region rankings, as announced Wednesday.
The Storm (27-8, 12-2 IIAC) slipped one spot in the NFCA poll and held steady in the regional rankings after going 5-1 last week. Washington U. in St. Louis leads the Midwest Region and is ranked No. 9 nationally.
Simpson has only two games remaining in the regular season, as Wartburg (13-17, 3-9) visits Simpson Softball Complex for a doubleheader Saturday, May 1 beginning at 2 p.m. Simpson will recognize its seniors between games.
Currently leading the Iowa Conference race, Simpson can clinch its first conference championship since 2000 with a sweep of the Knights or a win and a Luther loss.
