Edwardson closes career at national championships

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Simpson senior Ryan Edwardson placed 205th of 279 runners at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships from Lake Breeze Golf.

Edwardson completed the 8-kilometer course in 25:59.79.

The two-time national qualifier from Spencer, Iowa capped off a successful career for the Storm, which included two all-conference performances and an all-region effort.

"Ryan capped off an outstanding career the right way - at the national meet," head coach Heath Moenck said. "Ryan will go down as one of the top distance runners in school history. He had an outstanding season."

Edwardson improved 17 spots from 2010 when he finished 222nd. With his appearance in the national meet, Edwardson became Simpson's first, two-time national qualifier since Dave Halferty went in 1987 and 89.
