Storm track and field teams earn academic honor for 11th straight year

For the 11th straight season, the Simpson men's and women's track and field teams earned All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Due to the predicted severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening, the Division III Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has decided to adjust the championship schedule of events for Thursday.

The Simpson track and field team qualified three individuals for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Junior Isaac Frazier (decathlon), sophomore Dylan Kalinay (110-meter hurdles) and freshman Emmitt Wheatley (100-meter dash) will represent the Storm on May 26-28 in Waverly, Iowa.

Featuring a field of more than 1,100 athletes from 49 colleges and universities around the nation, the 2016 Kip Janvrin Open begins today at 2 p.m. with the hammer throw and discus throw. The meet concludes Friday with the remainder of the field events and all running events beginning at 2 p.m.
