Men’s tennis returns to win column

ELSAH, Ill. -- The Storm stopped a four-match losing skid after defeating Fontbonne, 8-1, on Friday. In the Storm's eight winning bouts, Simpson only allowed its opponent to win seven games.

Leading the way for the Storm was Aaron Price with a perfect match in singles play, dominating the Griffins' Alejandro Riveras 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Matt Turnley and Ethan Humble each were one point shy of perfect outings, but still prevailed in their respective singles' matchups.

Brett Dewerff triumphed over his No. 2 opponent by only losing two games during the two sets. Dewerff beat Ahn Nguyen in two sets, 6-1, 6-1. Fontbonne was short-handed, having to forfeit the No. 6 singles match against Caleb Vasconez.

Simpson's doubles play was highlighted by Reade Reiter and Dewerff's convincing 8-1 win over Fontbonne's top duo, Sebastian Culton and Nguyen. Turnley and Humble also won in doubles, defeating their matchup, 8-2. The No. 3 doubles contest was forfeited by the Griffins.
