Trio tab medalist honors in A-R-C Tournament

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Peter Walkwitz (C-Singles) along with doubles team Brett Dewerff and Reade Reiter (B-Doubles) earned second place in their respective brackets to end the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday.

Walkwitz fell short to Loras' Eian Code in the championship round 6-2, 6-4. On day one, Walkwitz defeated Nebraska Wesleyan's Cole Lohoefener 8-5 in the first round and then knocked off Loras' Connor Halbmeier 8-2 in the second round.

In the quarterfinals, Walkwitz outplayed Devin Gerber of Dubuque 6-3, 6-3 and moved on to beat Central's Trey Melvin in three sets 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 for the semifinal. Ethan Humble and Aaron Price also made it to the quarterfinals in the C-singles bracket before ending their runs.

Dewerff and Reiter lost in the championship to Coe's Jordan Oaks and Al Clarkwilt 8-7 (7-1). In the first round, the duo beat Buena Vista's Andrew Boell and Brendan Schlader 8-0 before defeating Loras' Riley Collins and Connor Pivnicka 8-4.

On day two, Dewerff and Reiter won against Nebraska Wesleyan's Bobby Curry and Vinh Le 8-6. In the semifinals, the doubles team defeated Wartburg's Grant Kincaid and Ben Mason 8-7 (8-6).

The duo of Matt Turnley and Ethan Humble along with Aaron Price and Caleb Vasconez outplayed their opponents until both teams lost in the quarterfinal round of the B-doubles section. In addition, Chase Henry and Jake Brend competed for the Storm but did not move past the first round.

Turnley earned a first round win in the B-singles bracket before falling in the second round. Dewerff and Reiter competed in the B-singles category but fell short in the first matches.

Karson Richardson won his first round match and came up short in round two of the C-singles. Also in contention for Simpson in this bracket was Vasconez, Brend and Henry.

This concludes the fall season for Simpson as the Storm will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1 against Lakeland in Moline, Ill.
