Kusick named IIAC Tennis Player of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson men's tennis player Zach Kusick earned Iowa Intercollegiate Atheltic Conference (IIAC) Performer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 2.
A sophomore from Westminster, Colo., Kusick opened the spring season by going 3-1 in duals against Greenville and North Central (Ill.). He went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Kusick beat Greenville's Jonathan Urshan 6-3, 6-1 and North Central's Rustam Saini, 8-5 in doubles, he paired with Peter Reitrgraf to beta Greenville's Urshan and Justin McDonald 8-2 before losing to Rustam and Josh Rodig of North Central.
Kusick and the Storm (0-2) travel to the Land of 10,000 Lakes next weekend, facing Bethany Lutheran and Ripon in Owatonna on Saturday, Feb. 8 before closing the weekend against Bethel in Minneapolis on Sunday, Feb. 9.
