Men's tennis tops Dubuque, Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Simpson men's tennis team picked up a pair of Iowa Conference road wins Saturday, beating Dubuque 8-1 and Loras 7-2.

The sweep helped the Storm (7-8, 2-1) surpass last year's win total (5) and gave the upstart team its most wins since 2009.

In singles, Zach Kusick, Peter Reitgraf, Dylan Hogan and Geoff Converse all went 2-0 while the doubles teams of Kusick/Reitrgraf and Hogan/Alex Hook swept their opponents.

Simpson swept doubles play against Dubuque and took 5 of 6 in singles. Converse had a tight match at No. 5 singles, coming back to beat Andrew Drummond 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.

It was more of the same against Loras, as Simpson lost just one match each in singles and doubles. Reitraf and Hogan each had tight contests in singles against the Duhawks. At No. 3, Reitgraf came back for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Ulises Hernandez and Hogan held on for a 6-0, 2-6, 6-1 win over Neil Kane at No. 4.

The Storm continue their successful campaign next weekend when they host Wartburg and St. Ambrose on Saturday, April 12.
