Simpson drops season finale to Coe

INDIANOLA - Senior Noah Saunders (Norwalk, Iowa) ended his career with a win, but Simpson dropped the season finale against league-leading Coe, 8-1 on Friday.

Saunders defeated Alex Klass at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, giving the Storm (4-19, 1-7 Iowa Conference) their only win of the day.

The doubles team of Alex Hook (West Des Moines, Iowa) and Adam Summitt (Urbandale, Iowa) gave Simpson a chance at No. 1, but fell to Jeff Damisch and Michael Janssen, 8-4.

Simpson honored two seniors on Friday, as Saunders and Lucas Haack (Ankeny, Iowa) took the court for the final time. A four-year letterwinner, Saunders finished the season with a career-high 12 singles wins, closing his career with a combined 56 wins between singles and doubles.
