Simpson falls to Cornell in opener

MT. VERNON, Iowa - The Simpson men's tennis team began the 2010 fall season with a 9-0 loss against Cornell on Monday.

Noah Saunders (Norwalk, Iowa) gave the Storm (0-1) their best chance, taking Cornell's Neal Klauer to three sets at No. 3 singles. Klauer took the match, 6-3, 2-6, 10-4.

In doubles, the duo of Alexander Hook (West Des Moines, Iowa) and Adam Summitt (Urbandale, Iowa) competed well at No. 1 doubles. The duo fell to Klauer and Garrett Russikoff, 8-4.

Simpson travels to Pella on Wednesday to face Central in a 3 p.m. match.
