McKim earns IIAC Performer of the Week honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Thanks to a first-place effort and season-best time in the 200 breaststroke, Simpson swimmer Kyle McKim was named the Iowa Conference Performer of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Dec. 14.

A junior from Boone, Iowa, McKim earns the weekly honor for the second time in his career. He won the 200 breaststroke in Simpson's dual against Iowa Lakes CC on Saturday, Dec. 15, finishing in a season-best time of 2:23.98. He also took second in the 200 IM and swam on the Storm's 400 medley relay team.

The school record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 IM, McKim also won the award as a freshman during the 2012-13 season.

McKim and the Storm closed the 2014 portion of the season against ILCC, going 2-3 in dual competition. Simpson returns to the pool for the Grinnell Invitational on Jan. 16-17.
