Men’s soccer trio named Academic All-District

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson men's soccer players Jack Arndt, Ian Dean and Connor Robson recently earned a spot on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8® First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

No team in Division III had more Academic All-District selections than Simpson.

Eleven players were named to the District 8 Team, which includes student-athletes attending NCAA Division III institutions in 21 states and Canada. Simpson was the only team in the American Rivers Conference to have players recognized.

2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team

A senior defender from Lenexa, Kan., Arndt maintains a 3.88 cumulative GPA while double-majoring in mathematics and economics & finance. An honorable mention all-conference performer, Arndt scored two goals and handed out two assists in 2018. The three-time academic all-conference performer headlined a defensive unit that allowed less than one goal per game.

A sophomore midfielder from Johnston, Iowa, Dean maintains a 4.00 cumulative GPA while double-majoring in mathematics and physics. Dean enjoyed a breakout season in 2018, scoring five goals and handing out two assists. He started 16 games for the Storm after serving as a reserve during his rookie campaign.

A junior defender from Ankeny, Iowa, Robson maintains a 3.97 cumulative GPA while double-majoring in accounting and economics & finance. A 2017 academic all-district honoree, Robson came back from an early-season injury to start 15 games on the back line. He had one assist and contributed to a Storm defense that allowed just 0.98 goals per game.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
