Storm play to scoreless draw with Wis.-Platteville

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The goalkeepers took center stage on Sunday as the Simpson men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with the fourth-ranked team in the North Region, Wis.-Platteville.

The result allowed the Storm (3-2-1) to remain unbeaten at home at 3-0-1.

Jake Potratz made four big saves for his first second straight clean sheet as the Pioneers (4-0-1) controlled the run of play in the first half. Simpson picked up the offensive attack in the second half, out-shooting Platteville 9-4.

Simpson's best opportunity came in the 88th minute when Tanner Alderson flicked a header on frame that Nate Miller was able to redirect just enough to send over the crossbar.

Miller made three saves on the day and kept even more opportunities from developing by coming off his line to intercept crosses.

The Pioneers outshot Simpson 4-0 in extra time, though none of the attempts ended up on frame. Their last chance came in the closing seconds when Logan Rinderknecht's free kick missed just wide of the upright.
