Storm tripped up by Waldorf

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's soccer team spent a majority of Wednesday's game in the attacking third but couldn't find the back of the net in 1-0 loss to Waldorf, its first home loss of the season.

The Storm saw their five-game unbeaten streak come to a close and are now 6-3-1 on the season. The Warriors snapped a six-game winless streak and are now 3-6-1.

Simpson controlled the run of play for a majority of the game, but wasn't as opportunistic as Waldorf. Simpson outshot Waldorf 10-7 but managed just one shot on frame.

How it Happened

12' | During the early stages of the first half, Tanner Alderson took a through ball from Seth Bowman but missed wide right. Alderson ended the night with a team-high four shots.

17' | The Storm generated another scoring opportunity when Jack Arndt slotted a serve into the box that Alderson one-time just over the crossbar.

48' | Waldorf's Irvin Rodriguez got past Simpson's back line and took advantage of a one-on-one matchup with Simpson keeper Simon Van Den Abbeele, going far past from 15 yards out for the game's only goal.

88' | During the waning moments of the game, the Storm had several opportunities deep in Waldorf's territory. Baraka Ellie had two corner kicks in the final two minutes, but the Storm weren't able to make the Warriors pay.

Quotes from Coach Isaacson

"I thought we played fairly well in the absence of two of our top players. We created the better scoring chances tonight but failed to capitalize on a few golden opportunities."
