Knox named first team all-conference, Swain honorable mention

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson point guard Elijah Knox earned a spot on the 2012-13 All-Iowa Conference First Team and Charles Swain landed an honorable mention nod, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

A senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., Knox led the league with 60 steals and ranked second with 111 assists. His 60 steals were 19 more than the next highest in the conference and set a school single-season record, surpassing the 59 by Steve Ellens in 1995-96.

Knox averaged 11.8 points per game, second on the team. Throughout his career he played in 99 games, making 74 starts. He ranks second in career steals (171), fourth in assists (345) and sported a career 1.36 assist-to-turnover ratio.

A sophomore from Austin, Tex., Swain led the team with 13 points per game while connecting on a team-high 35 3-pointers. He was named Iowa Conference Player of the Week when he went off for 31 against Whitman on Dec. 20.

The Storm went 7-19 in the 2012-13, tied for sixth in the conference. Simpson bowed out in the first round of the conference tournament with a 71-63 loss at eventual tournament-champion Dubuque.
