INDIANOLA, Iowa – Charles Swain scored 18 points, Austin Hennings posted a double-double and the Simpson men's basketball team pulled away from AIB down the stretch for a 65-50 win on Sunday.
Swain went 7-for-13 from the field and made 3 of 5 from beyond the arc to help the Storm (2-4) snap a four-game losing streak. Hennings scored eight of his 12 points in the second half and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Facing a winless AIB team, Simpson allowed the Eagles (0-12) to stick around in the second half. After trailing by as many as 11, a 3-pointer by Travis Guy pulled AIB within 48-44 at the 11:39 mark.
But Simpson responded with a game-clinching, 13-0 run over the next eight minutes, outscoring AIB 17-6 in the final 10 minutes.
Despite early foul trouble, Elijah Knox put together a quality effort with nine points, eight assists, five steals and a blocked shot. Knox's eight assists tied a career-high.
Brandon Eley and Ryley Pruismann scored 16 apiece and Matej Culjak had 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
