Simpson women move up two spots in regional rankings

NEW ORLEANS - The Simpson College women's cross country team rose two spots to No. 8 in the USTFCCCA Cross Country Regional Rankings, while the men remained seventh, as announced on Tuesday.

Both squads have not competed since the Les Duke Invitational on Sept. 10. The men were led by Andrew Klein, whose career-best 8k time of 25:43.7 vaulted the team to a third place overall finish. Klein's individual runner-up finish earned him American Rivers Conference Runner of the Week honors for the first time in his career,

Emma Angus led the women to fifth place, finishing ninth overall individually. Angus completed the 6k course in a time of 24:02.5. It was Angus's second time being the first Simpson runner to cross the line in her career.

Both teams return to action on Oct. 1 at the Aurora Invitational in Geneva, Ill.
