Storm fall to Northwestern in Spring opener

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team dropped its first match of the Spring on Friday, falling to Northwestern (Iowa) 7-2 at Buxton Tennis Complex.

The Storm (8-8) picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, as Whitney Thompson and Dara Sam teamed up to beat Hannah Stark and Missy Yorchak, 9-7.

Simpson managed only one win in the singles competition, as Lauren Schemmel knocked off Stark at No. 5, 6-3, 7-6 (6-4).

Both Tiffany Bost (No. 2) and Lindsay Nash (No. 3) sent their matches to the super tiebreaker before falling. Bost lost to Terry Odera 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 and Nash fell to Kellie Korver 7-5, 2-6, 13-11.
