PELLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's tennis team split the singles competition but dropped two of three doubles matches in a 5-4 loss to Central on Tuesday night.

The Storm (6-4, 3-3 Iowa Conference) saw their five-match winning streak come to a end with the loss despite playing the Dutch (5-6, 4-3) even in singles.

At No. 3 singles, Allison Anderson beat Ashlei Bos 6-1, 6-0. Lindsay Nash earned a close, 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 4 and Lauren Schemmel handled Sarah Montgomery in the sixth spot, 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles, Nash and Lynae Gruber provided the Storm their only win, 8-2 over Montgomery and Jordan Langer at No. 3. Schemmel and Mikayla Struebing threatened to turn the result around at No. 2, taking Bos and Riley Taylor to an 8-6 decision.

Simpson returns to Buxton Memorial Tennis Complex on Saturday when it hosts Monmouth (Ill.) and Luther in the final regular season matches of the season.
