
Storm roll past Grand View
INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Grand View on Saturday morning at Buxton Memorial Tennis Complex.
The Storm (4-3) moved a game above .500 and won their third match in a row without dropping a set in singles play.
Head coach Lindsay Chase decided to shuffle her singles lineup against the first-year program, a decision which yielded positive results.
Lindsay Nash, Lynae Gruber and Whitney Thompson encountered little resistance in the top three spots. Lauren Schemmel took a 7-6 (4), 6-0 win over Jennie Darrow at No. 4, Taylor Hamilton beat Kellie Bates 7-6 (1), 7-5 at No. 5 and Ramie Vokt beat Katie Victor 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
In doubles, Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson took an 8-1 win over Becca Ruther and Katie Victor at No. 1, Mikayla Struebing and Schemmel teammed up for an 8-4 win over Marissa Ruttenbeck and Lauren Lighter at No. 2 and Dara Sam and Nicole Gilbert got past Darrow and Kate Burnette 8-6 at the No. 3 spot.
Simpson was scheduled to face Wartburg in the second match of the day, but inclement weather postponed competition. A makeup date has not yet been scheduled.
The Storm have a week off of competition before hosting Morningside and Buena Vista on Saturday, Sept. 24 in Indianola.
