Luderman earns conference player of the week honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Maddie Luderman of the Simpson softball team received her second career American Rivers Conference Softball Position Player of the Week award after a dominating week in Florida.

Luderman, who won the weekly honor once last season, was one of the main catalysts in the Storm going 6-2 on the week and 10-2 overall on the team's spring break journey to the Sunshine State.

The senior led the team in multiple batting categories on the week for players with multiple at-bats, including batting average (.464), total bases (22), and RBIs (nine). Luderman also collected 13 hits, three doubles, and smacked two home runs across the eight contests. On the year, Luderman leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, doubles, RBIs, and home runs.

Luderman's numbers also rank among the best in the conference, ranking first in batting average, slugging percentage, doubles, and RBIs.

Playing at the catcher position, Luderman recorded a fielding percentage of .953 on the week in Florida, recording 34 putouts and seven assists on 43 total chances.

Luderman and the Storm will open their home schedule next weekend with a doubleheader against Greenville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
