Simpson men start strong with home win

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson College men's cross country team earned a win in its home opener at the Bill Buxton Invitational, Friday, at Pickard Park.

Junior and two-time A-R-C all-conference member Spencer Moon claimed second overall, covering the 6K course in 18:47.5, a 20 second improvement over his time at last year's meet. Sophomore Andrew Klein took third overall in 19:34.4, followed by the other returner from last year's all-conference squad in Louden Foster in fifth overall (19:44.0).

The Storm finished off their top five scorers with a pair of sophomores as Cade Mash finished in eighth overall in 19:55.1 and Marc Medici in 13th overall in 20:06.8.

The top seven were finished off by junior Ean Warrick (17th overall, 20:24.3) and Noah Nelsen (20:29.6).

"It was great to open up on the home course tonight", said head coach Heath Moenck. "It was also encouraging to see some different people step up for us tonight. Cade Mash and Marc Medici were terrific tonight."

The Storm travel to Grinnell for the Les Duke Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10:45 a.m.
