Track and field teams begin IIAC Indoor Championships today
The Simpson track and field teams begin the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships today at Lamberti Recreation Center in Storm Lake, Iowa, hosted by Buena Vista. The heptathlon and pentathlon began Friday morning at 10 a.m. and field events start up at 4 p.m.

What to Watch For
• Simpson boasts two of the top multi-event athletes in the conference in Isaac Frazier and Sarah Galbraith. Frazier comes in the with the top heptathlon score in the IIAC of 4,522 points, currently 16th in Division III. He will also compete in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump. Galbraith owns the No. 2 pentathlon score in the IIAC at 2,966 points, good for 37th in Division III. She will also compete in the high jump, long jump, 4x800-meter relay and the distance medley relay.
• Simpson has some of the top sprinters in the IIAC on the men's side led by freshman speedster,Emmitt Wheatley. He owns the No. 3 times in both the 60 (7.11) and 200 meters (22.83). Sophomore Travis Tupper has the No. 7 time in the 60 (7.14) and is No. 10 in the 200 (23.09). Sophomore Dylan Kalinay is No. 6 in the 200 (22.95 ) and No. 12 in the 60 (7.19). Prince Krahand Davey Jergens will also look to be in the mix.
• After missing the podium by one-hundredth of a second in the 60 hurdles a year ago, Dylan Kalinay has his sights set on an all-conference performance in 2016. He comes in with the No. 2 time in the IIAC (8.33).
• Pole vaulter Mitch Stoltzman turned heads with a third-place finish at the 2015 outdoor championships and hopes to continue that momentum this weekend. His 4.15 meter clearance at the Central Dual last weekend is currently fourth in the IIAC.
• Sophomore Ian McKenzie is Simpson's top miler, coming in with the No. 7 time in the league (4:21.63). A good performance could put him in all-conference contention.
• In addition to the pentathlon, Sarah Galbraith ranks in the top 10 in the IIAC in the high jump and long jump. Her season-best 1.56-meter clearance in the high jump is fifth in the conference and her 4.87-meter long jump is eighth.
• Pole vaulters Audrey LoVan and Mary Doherty look to factor into the team scoring, as both come in with top-10 efforts in the IIAC.
• The Storm women should have a strong showing in the middle distance and distance events. In the 3,000 meters, Sadie Timms owns the No. 11 time (11:00.19) while Briana McCloskey is No. 20 (11:12.27). Courtney Neuendorf has the No. 11 time in the Mile (5:27.99).
