Storm fall in close matches in Minnesota

OWATANNA, Minn. – The Storm men traveled to Minnesota this weekend, facing off against Ripon and Northwestern (Minn.) in a double-header on Saturday. The Storm fell in both of their Saturday matches.

Against Ripon, Simpson lost 4-3 in a closely-contested match. Grant Love and Drake Downard both defeated their opponents in singles competition. Seth Orta put up a strong fight against his opponent, pushing the match to extra points before eventually coming up short against Ty Rondestvedt of Ripon.

In doubles competition, the Storm earned the point with victories for two of their doubles teams. Javier Robles Solis and Grant Love defeated their opponents 6-2 while Drake Downard and Blane Wallace defeated their opponents 6-3.

In their match against Northwestern, the Storm fell 7-0, though they never gave up. Javier Robles Solis lost in a close singles match 7-5, 6-4. Darek Keyser and Blane Wallace each came very close to their opponents as well with 6-4 scores across the board.

In doubles competition, the pair of Javier Robles Solis and Grant Love came up short in a tight 6-4 match. Seth Orta and Darek Kayser also came close with their score of a 6-3 against their opponents.
