Storm compete at Saint Mary Double Dual

LANSING, Kan. -- The Simpson College men's and women's swimming and diving teams capped off back-to-back days of competition at the Saint Mary Double Dual on Saturday afternoon.

The Storm women defeated Sterling by a final score of 136.00 to 73.00 but fell 163.50-76.50 to their hosts, Saint Mary. The men dropped both duals, falling 209.00-13.00 to Saint Mary and 88.00-43.00 to Sterling.

After winning the 100-yard breaststroke the night before, Alyssa Harris won gold in 200 backstroke with a time of 2:24.90 to lead the Storm at the event. The senior also picked up two runner-up finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly.

The trio of Breana Hinson, Caroline Oberg and Maggie Steinbeck each had a second-place finish to highlight their day. Hinson swam the 200-yard IM in 2:31.29, Oberg clocked a 2:59.38 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Steinbeck hit the wall in 1:23.97 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

On the men's side, Jay Ceperly finished third in the 200-yard butterfly to go with a pair of fourth place finishes and Nathan Parkins had his best performance in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fifth with a time of 2:18.47.
