Storm battle to a draw at Central to open A-R-C action

PELLA, Iowa - Taking on Central to begin their conference action, Simpson men's soccer came away with a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Storm (4-4-1, 0-0-1) capitalized on a Dutch (3-4-2, 0-0-1) error in the first half which resulted in an own goal in the 17th minute. Central managed to knot up the score in the second half in the 57th minute. Ronaldo Ordaz led the way with seven shots, and Mason Chaplin recorded five saves in goal for the Storm.

GOAL SUMMARY

  • The Storm's goal came on a miscue from the Dutch defense after a free kick outside the box deflected off a Central player into their own net.
  • Central's equalizer came 12 minutes into the second half, after a diving save from Chaplin, the ball kicked right back to a Dutch attacker for the score.
