Storm close regular season in style

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Tyler Neumann waited until the final game of the season to score his first goals in conference play and the Simpson men's soccer team capped off its best season in nine years with a 2-0 win over Buena Vista in the regular season finale on Tuesday night.

Neumann, the team's leading goal-scorer with 12 during the regular season, found the back of the net twice against Buena Vista, his first goals against a conference opponent in 2012.

The scores – one at the 5:35 mark and the other at 45:49 – proved vital for the Storm (12-7-1, 3-3-1 Iowa Conference), who posted the program's most wins since also getting 12 in 2003.

Simpson hopes to add more wins to its ledger in the Iowa Conference Tournament. The Storm have the No. 5 seed and will travel to play No. 4 seed Wartburg on Saturday, Oct. 27. Game time is yet to be determined.

Luke Aronow and Zach McEntee combined for the shutout, Simpson's seventh of the season. Simpson out-shot Buena Vista 32-5.

Michael Rydberg made five saves for the Beavers (5-11-1, 0-7).
