Storm overmatch Iowa Wesleyan

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Tyler Neumann scored the first two goals of the game and the Simpson men's soccer team sprinted out to a 3-0 lead en-route to a 5-2 win against Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday night. 

Neumann scored his first goal just 1:21 into the game and the Storm (8-4) never slowed down, out-shooting the Tigers (3-6) 34-6 on the night.

Simpson sent 30 players to the pitch, the third time this season head coach Rick Isaacson has had the luxury of clearing the benches. It is the third game this season Simpson has scored five or more goals, all of which have come at home.

The Storm are 5-2 at Buxton Stadium this season, where they have outscored opponents 28-7.

Neumann scored his second goal of the game exactly 11 minutes after the first. Mark Lahart set the freshman up from two yards out and Neumann obliged with his team-leading eighth goal fo the season.

Mitchell White made it a three-goal difference in the 42nd minute when he found the back of the net from eight yards out.

Jeremy Reinert and Kyle Kusy added goals in the second half.

Michel Fagundas put Iowa Wesleyan on the board just over a minute before halftime and Caio Da Costa added a tally in the 87th minute.

Zach McEntee got the start in goal, earning the first win of his career. He allowed one goal and made two saves in 85 minutes, 31 seconds of work.

Simpson has the weekend off before hosting Wartburg on Thursday, Oct. 4 at Buxton Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
