#StormTop10 Moments No. 1: Men's track and field crowns champions, All-Americans
The Simpson men's track and field team raked in the hardware and made waves on the national scale in 2017, earning the No. 1 spot on our final countdown of the summer.
The Storm crowned five All-Americans on the season, sent eight events to the indoor and outdoor national meets and brought home six conference championships. They rose as high as No. 22 in the national rankings and re-wrote the record book several times over. And they did it all while maintaining the best team GPA in the Iowa Conference.
Among the most memorable moments of the season included:
- Bringing home three All-American events, the most for the program since crowning five in 1991
- Isaac Frazier placing fifth in the country in the decathlon, Simpson's top national finisher since 1998
- Jordan Coughenour becoming Simpson's first mutli-time All-American since 1997 after taking seventh in the 400 hurdles outdoors and the indoor 4x400 relay indoors
- Dylan Kalinay breaking a 26-year old school record in the 110 hurdles by running 14.30
- The 4x100 relay team of Zach Nissen, Chase Wetterling, Travis Tupper and Tate Tufte breaking the school record set in 2016, placing second at the IIAC Championship
- Jordan Coughenour (400 hurdles) and the indoor 4x200 relay successfully defending 2016 conference titles
