#StormTop10 Individual Performances No. 9: Botkins nails seven 3s
Freshman sharpshooter Janey Botkins made a huge impact for the Storm women's basketball team in her rookie season, and in no game was that more apparent than in the Storm's 109-71 route of Kansas Christian on Dec. 10.
Coming off a tough 0-for-8 performance just three days earlier in a loss to Luther, Botkins found her groove against the non-conference foes from Kansas City. She came off the bench to hit seven 3-pointers, going 7-for-11 from deep. At one point she made four in a row to help the Storm pull away.
Botkins' seven 3s were the most by a Simpson player since Amy Hamilton made eight against William Penn on Dec. 13, 2008.
She went on to make a team-high 50 3-pointers during the season, becoming the first Simpson freshman to lead the team in 3-point shooting since Carlie Beals in 2004-05. Her 7.7 ppg were good for second on the team.
