Women’s cross country cracks Midwest Region Rankings

NEW ORLEANS -- Following their best finish at the American Rivers Conference Championships since the 2009 season, the Simpson College women's cross country team entered the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Rankings for the first time in program history.

The Storm are ranked No. 10 behind four teams from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, three A-R-C squads, and two University Athletic Association schools. The Wartburg women hold the top spot while fellow conference foes Loras and Central are ranked No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Simpson collected a fourth-place finish at the Championships last Saturday and was led by Cat Lucht, Lara Kallem, and Teghan Booth. Lucht notched her second top-20 performance in as many years, Kallem came in second with a 26th-place finish, and Booth finished just outside the top-30.

The team will return to action on Nov. 13 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Rock Island, Ill.
