Storm men finish second, women fifth at Les Duke Invite

GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Simpson College cross country teams competed in the 59th running of the Les Duke Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Grinnell College. The men ended second and the women carded fifth.

"Our men ran terrific today," head coach Heath Moenck said. "We have a lot of experienced guys on our roster and it was fun to see them race well. Our women battled and I was proud of their efforts."

The Storm men finished behind Wartburg, which ranks first in the nation and ahead of Central, which sits eighth in the region. Spencer Moon, Andrew Klein and Harry Dudley all carded top-10 efforts to boost the squad.

Louden Foster nearly missed the top 10 with a 12th-place performance, while Noah Nelsen and Ryan Courtney finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

On the women's side in the 6K, Cat Lucht paced the team with a career-best time of 24:34.5 for 16th, while Teghan Booth and Lara Kallem ended back-to-back to fill the 23rd and 24th slots, respectively.

"Andrew Klein and Louden Foster were incredible today," Moenck said. "Teghan Booth was a highlight as she performed well in her first collegiate 6K."
