INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team started the season off on the right foot Wednesday afternoon, beating Buena Vista 6-3 in the season opener for both teams.

The Storm (1-0, 1-0 Iowa Conference) took the first two doubles matches and won four of six singles to notch their 27th consecutive win over the Beavers (0-1, 0-1).

"Overall I was pleased with our 1 and 2 doubles matches which got us off to an early lead," head coach Lindsay Chase said.

Allison Anderson won the 42nd singles match of her career and teamed with Tiffany Bost for a win at No. 1 doubles. Anderson defeated Elizabeth Heffernan 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.

Lindsay Nash and freshman Kelli Ehrhardt combined for a shutout win at No. 2 doubles. Both won their singles match as well, with Nash beating Tasha Nelson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 and Ehrhardt topping Kelli Kroepel 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.

"Kelli, Allison and Lindsay played solid singles matches for us to secure the victory," Chase said. "And it was a great start to Kelli's career at Simpson to get a pair of wins."

Lauren Schemmel survived a tough match at No. 5 singles, going to a super tiebreaker with Sam Kavan before triumphing 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.
