Nash sets doubles record as Storm roll

DES MOINES, Iowa – Lindsay Nash broke the school record for doubles wins in a career and the Simpson women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over Grand View on Friday.

Nash and Kelli Ehrhardt beat Jennie Darrow and Erin Baak 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, giving Nash 50 career doubles wins. She passed Sherry Warren (1999-2002) and Cara McCoy (1997-2000) for the record.

Nash and Ehrhardt improved to 16-10 in doubles on the year, tied with teammates Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson for the most doubles wins in a single season. Bost and Anderson beat Natalia Romero and Lauren Lightner 8-5 at No. 1.

Lauren Schemmel and Michelle Hartman added an 8-4 win over Angela Nims and Brianna Sitzman at No. 3 doubles as the Storm (11-10) got off to a strong start and cruised in singles.

Anderson, Nash, Ehrhardt, Schemmel and Hartman all won singles matches to fuel the win.

The singles wins by Anderson and Nash moved the duo up the ladder in Simpson's record book for career wins. Anderson now has 56, just five shy of the record of 61 set by Kara Svendson from 1994-97. Nash is close behind with 55.

The last remaining date on Simpson's schedule is the Iowa Conference Team Tournament, which takes place Friday-Saturday, April 26-27 in Cedar Rapids. Simpson owns the No. 4 seed in the tournament and faces No. 5 seed Central in the first round.
