Simpson wins two, extends streak to seven

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team notched a pair of non-conference wins Saturday, beating Morningside 5-4 and Grand View 9-0.

The Storm (8-3) won their seventh match in a row with the wins.

Against Morningside, Simpson won two of the three doubles matches before splitting the singles competition.

The duo of Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson got an 8-4 win at No. 1 and Lindsay Nash and Kelli Ehrhardt won 8-4 at No. 2, setting the course for the match.

Bost and Anderson picked up exciting, three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Nash added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 to clinch the win.

Against Grand View it was all Simpson.

Simpson surrendered only one point in doubles and swept singles for the win.

Bost, Nash, and Ehrhardt won in straight sets at No. 1, 2, and 3. Michelle Hartman earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brianna Sitzman at No. 4, Angela Phipps won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and Nicole Gilbert came back for a 3-6, 6-1, 12-10 win at No. 6.

Simpson closes conference play next Saturday, Sept. 29 when it takes on Luther and Wartburg on the road. The Luther match begins at 9 a.m. and Wartburg begins at 2:30 p.m.
