Pair of Simpson wins extend streak to five

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Simpson women's tennis team won a pair of tightly-contested matches on Saturday, beating St. Ambrose 6-3 and UW-Stout 5-4.

The Storm (6-3) extended their winning streak to five matches thanks in large part to strong doubles play, as Simpson won 5 of 6 on the day.

Head coach Lindsay Chase was especially pleased with the doubles play of Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson against St. Ambrose.

"They had a great comeback from an 8-7, love-40 deficit to rally and win the match," Chase said.

That momentum carried Simpson the rest of the way, as the Storm went on to sweep the doubles competition from St. Ambrose and split singles.

Kelli Ehrhardt and Lindsay Nash both went 4-0 on the day to lead Simpson.

"Kelli and Lindsay earned four great wins," Chase said. "Both of them played very well."

Michelle Hartman picked up a singles win against St. Ambrose and teamed with Rami Vokt for a win at No. 3 doubles.

Anderson finished the day 3-1, getting a pair of doubles wins and a win at No. 2 singles against UW-Stout.

The Storm are off until next weekend when they host Morningside on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 9 a.m.
