Nash ties doubles record as Storm beat Central

PELLA, Iowa – Lindsay Nash tied a school record with her doubles win and the Simpson women's tennis team knocked off Central 6-3 on Tuesday evening.

A senior, Nash teamed with freshman Kelli Ehrhardt to outlast Anna Striegel and Anna Bowser 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, giving her 49 career doubles wins. The triumph ties Nash for first along with Sherry Warren (1999-2002) and Cara McCoy (1997-2000).

Nash is 49-42 during her career and is 15-10 this season.

The Storm (10-10) won two super tiebreakers in singles action en-route to the win over the Dutch (10-7). Simpson is 4-1 against Central over the last two seasons.

Allison Anderson earned one of the super tiebreaker wins, beating Megan Davis 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 at No. 2 singles. Michelle Hartman got the other, coming back for a 5-7, 7-6, 10-6 triumph at No. 6 singles.

Nash beat Anna Striegel 6-3, 7-6 (3) at No. 3 and Ehrhardt notched a 6-0, 6-1 win against Amanda Kuhn.

Hartman and Lauren Schemmel got Simpson's second doubles win, topping Kuhn and Ashlyn Huegel 8-5.

Nash, Tiffany Bost, Anderson and Ehrhardt are all 15-10 in doubles this season, putting them in a tie for the most doubles wins in a season. Katy Doudina (1995) also won 15 in 1995.

Records could fall in Simpson's next contest, which is Thursday, April 18 against Grinnell at Buxton Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
